Retrio Dos Verdes is a proposal consists of a site 656 sqm indoor space and 100 sqm outdoor space. It is designed on three floor, basement floor, ground floor and first floor. Architectural planning is dictated by two major factors context and climate. Contextually, designing with simple, local materials that are traditionally present in the local culture, adapting them to contemporary living. To climate factor is designed one patio and one courtyard. The patio that is lead through the entrace. The entrance is located on the west side. During hot summer, Verde family can host their guest at the patio. The patio links living room, tasting room and kitchen with entrance. Living room and dinning room is linked through the courtyard. The central courtyard that is occupied three wind pool and one olive tree was introduced to guide dominant breeze from the ocean. On the upper floor, the corridor leads to social are, two double bedrooms/suites, two single bed bedrooms and meditation room. Social area is directly connected to exterior through terrace, pool and garden. Double bedrooms are directly related to the exterior through terrace.

Medidation room is located end of the corridor and it has strong connection with landscape and the courtyard.

The basement floor is occupied cellar, tasting space, storage,staff room, laundry and bathroom.

Handmade soil brick is one of traditional material since ancient times. It is made from a mixture of sand, clay, water and frequently tempered; Through using soil bricks, it keeps environmental costs down.

The soil bricks provide shade for the entrance, allowing ventilation and visual permeability. Aligned to the patio and through facade protect from direct sunlight and rain, conduct the wind.

Cellar, has spaces to keep barrels and transparent glass bulb to have extraordinary tasting experience.

Verde family can fill these glass bulbs with oil that harvested at different times. Material of cellar wall is choosed stone, regional material, due to store the olive oil at suggested temperature during days with high temperature.

Stone is known to be a versatile, sturdy, inexpensive and long-lasting material, and has been used in traditional construction systems in Portugal for a long time. Retrio dos Verdes is recovered respecting the place, the moth and the materials.
