Designed by Teğet Architecture, Çatalhöyük Visitor Center is located in Konya.
Çatalhöyük Visitor Center (ÇZM) is located between the eastern and western mounds of the ancient settlement Çatalhöyük whose traces date back to the 8th century BC. Designating an entrance and walking route for visitors, the project has a comprehensive approach that considers the archaeological remains as well as the excavation house, the vehicle road, and the stream beds that gave life to the mounds in time, as interconnected organisms. The main goal is for ÇZM to work not only as an exhibition building, but also as a spine that organizes these relations.
ÇZM consists of three buildings gathered around a courtyard. These structures with terraces, bridges and a tower attached to them are built with a light and modest system that has minimum contact with the groudn, in contrast to the weight of the 9000 year old collective memory and cultural accumulation held by the mounds. The wooden structure and material used in the site where local materials and ancient ruins are adobe, do not compete with the existing one or imitate it; On the contrary, it creates a subtle contrast with its surroundings.
