Tinker wins international design competition new Natural History Museum of Denmark

In 2022, an entirely new Natural History Museum will open its doors in Copenhagen. Dutch design agency Tinker imagineers won the international tender to design the new scenography for an area of almost 4.900 m2 netto. The site decided on for the ‘Théodore Gouvy’ theatre is the Place des Alliés, in Freyming-Merlebach. The municipal authorities were keen to give a new boost to this evolving sector, which is close to the town centre and next to the new town hall and a shopping centre. Rafael Aranda, Carme Pigem and Ramon Vilalta have been selected as the 2017 Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureates, announced Tom Pritzker, Chairman of Hyatt Foundation, which sponsors the award that is known internationally as architecture’s highest honor.

The FORUM

Located in Saint-Louis (Alsace, France) in the “Three Borders” region and in the inner suburb of Basel, the “Forum” dedicated to replace the old “Palais des fêtes” of the town, is a cultural facility designed to host associative, sporting and cultural events.

Fahouse

Nestled in the privacy of a hemlock forest, FAHOUSE presents an amazing building that seems to emerge from a children’s story. Exploiting the contrasts between opacity and light, the architect Jean Verville develops a graphic assemblage, which rises like two giant conifers, intensifying the dreamlike aspect of this architectural proposal. Derived from the archetypal figure of the house, the double triangular prism perfectly illustrates childhood characterizing the whole development of this project.

Alvisi Kirimoto + Partners Together With Renzo Piano Inaugurated Piazza Faber in Sardinia

A unique installation in the main square in Tempio Pausania, Sardinia, was inaugurated recently. It is dedicated to Italian singer-songwriter Fabrizio De André. A series of colored sails fluctuate in the sky, in the center of this small town. The light and ever-changing installation is designed by Alvisi Kirimoto + Partners together with Renzo Piano, who conceived the early idea.

Alejandro Aravena of Chile receives the 2016 Pritzker Architecture Prize

Alejandro Aravena of Chile has been selected as the 2016 Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate, Tom Pritzker announced today. Mr. Pritzker is Chairman and President of The Hyatt Foundation, which sponsors the prize. The formal award ceremony for what has come to be known internationally as architecture’s highest honor will be at United Nations Headquarters in New York on April 4, 2016.
