Comte Vollenweider’s New Project is Sonia Delauney Residence

Comte Vollenweider recently delivered two projects in Alpes-Maritimes. The Sonia Delauney Residence, in Mouans-Sartoux, near Grasse.

The surrounding context is significant of the development of the urban fabric. Here, we can see the transition from an individual morphology to apartment buildings. The project extends the pedestrian path from the Chemin des Gourettes all the way to the mall, thereby creating a connection with the east side of the town. This pathway makes it possible to preserve the existing little brook.

The adjoining lot is treated as a landscaped area with the creation of family-oriented gardens in direct relation with the mall, thereby enriching social life and creating a shared space for the residents. In the alignment of the neighboring project of “Les Passantes”, exterior footbridges provide access and extend social life directly from the apartments and in relation to the landscape.

The environmental approach is the project’s unifying idea, achieved by occupying less land, taking into account natural contributions, the use of healthy materials, and reduced consumption of natural resources. A well-oriented, insulated and ventilated dwelling already has a solid base for meeting the challenges of sustainable development.

The thickness of the buildings being 11.60 m all of them enjoy double exposure, excellent ventilation, natural light, and a double orientation. Each apartment opens onto a loggia, yet another living space of the dwelling, protected by openwork panels that provide comfort in the summer and ensure privacy.
