HAVELSAN Technology Campus

Designed by FREA and SCRA Architecture, the campus was built in Ankara in 2021.

Havelsan is an indirectly public but private company that develops technology for the defense industry. The most important reason underlying the emergence of the need for a new campus is the fact that the qualities of the workplaces have moved away from humane conditions. Another input is the information security that the company must provide at a high level, and the security certificates that it must receive after the related structure is completed in order to continue its activities. In a campus located so far inside the city, these inputs have formed the main backbone of the information security design. All service units are located around the residential texture within a voluminous wall. All vertical circulation vehicles and wet spaces are located within this volume. Keeping in mind that this volume is actually a circulation space-space, its spatial quality; The indirect intake of natural light has been increased by design decisions such as the volumetric continuity of the spaces between the floors. Working spaces also had the chance to overlook the inner garden, and their facades could be handled in a way that allows maximum level of natural light away from security concerns. The material decisions of the building are handled with the same consistency, without losing the whole. Basalt natural stone, which is the main material of the façade, has been continued in the interiors, taking into account the continuity of the surface. The interior surface of the service block and the vertical carrier system are designed as exposed concrete.
