FABRIC FORM|CAST Workshop at METU

Çalıştay, 18 - 21 Mayıs 2012 tarihleri arasında ODTÜ'de gerçekleşiyor.

Fabric Form is a workshop that will be organized at METU Faculty of Architecture between 18 May 2012-21 May 2012. Mark West, the founder of C.A.S.T. -research center at University of Manitoba- will be the coordinator of the workshop. The duration of the workshop is three days and during the workshop with the coordination of Mark West 30 students will be working hands on. In addition to workshop Mark West will also give conference on the production of fabric form at Chamber of Architects Ankara Branch. At the end of the workshop the final works will be exhibited at METU Faculty of Architecture.

The Centre for Architectural Structures and Technology seeks new boundaries for architectural thought, design, and building technology through physical explorations of materials, tools, and methods, the study of natural law, and the free play of imagination. A wide range of methods for research and creation are used together at C.A.S.T., mixing traditions of fine arts, engineering and architectural design.

C.A.S.T. is the first research laboratory in the world dedicated to the development and testing of fabric formwork and fabric-formed concrete structures and provides a unique facility for interdisciplinary research involving architects, engineers, and industry.

APPLICATION
Fabric Form workshop applications open at 18th April 2012. Undergraduate and graduate level students in the fields of architecture are eligible for application. English proficiency is mandatory for application to workshop

The number is limited to 30 participants. The registration fee is 30 TL. Fee does not include accommodation and food expenses. Registration fees will be taken at the beginning of the workshop.

The duration of the workshop is four days. There will be a conference during the workshop and all the participants will be able to attend the conference. Full time participation is requested during four-day of the workshop.

The workshop will include materials like plaster, wood, fabric and concrete. Please do not apply if you are allergic one of these materials.
