ARCHITECTURAL REPORT

Kaunas is entitled as 2022 European Capital of Culture. With this title, Kaunos took the first step for being a world city. Its culture, economy, universities and the way it has AB’s fastest, strongest IT& digital foundation makes the city more significant for Lithuanian. With this development, it is no surprise that Kaunas people, especially youngs, use digital technology so efficiently in their dailylife. For this reason, introducing an interface concept to architecture of Kaunas is such an innovative design idea which will keep Kaunas the point of attraction until 2022. Furthermore, interface design will help Kaunas to meet the standards of a World city terminology. Kaunas Concert Center is planned to be built for commemoration of Kostantinas Ciurlionis. It is expected to be the contemporary and new face of the city means of this innovative design concept.

INTERFACE AND ARCHITECTURE

Interface is perceived as public realm in the virtual world. Adopting interface to architecture realism process is shaped with respect to public areas located across the river such as parks, squares and cycle routes. It is worth to highlight the fact that public spaces are linked with our public interface. The second idea behind the public interface is that our site stands between old part and new part of the city. Thus, public interface between old part and new part of the city will play a vital rol to combine old and new. In this way interface will create a some sort of architectural understanding which is able to retransform its surrounding.

The way Kaunas has AB’s fastest and most powerful IT & digital foundation and new generation is dependent on this technology, provoked us to adapt interface concept to architecture. Interfaces that we use in social media can be defined as virtual frameworks and this virtual frameworks have no access limitation since they have a public nature. Generally, they lead the users to achieve their aims means of colours and shapes. With this settlement, architectural issues are coded such that use of spaces and circulation are defined with material and colour choices of an interface. Interface is directly linked to parks, dock and public squares located around of it. As park continues inside of the building, the pattern of digital trees inside the structure, reminds us the park with its own unique and virtual identity.

Besides, interface also merges the cycle routes of old part and new part of the city inside of it as a cycle path goes inside of the building. Similary, pedestrian routes in the park are recoded as they move inside the building. In this way of circulation network of the building is fused with outer environment. Lastly, the dock welcomes the river network right into the our public interface. In the bigger Picture, it can be said that interface transfers the movement in the main boulevard to new city as one experiences the Kaunas Concert Center.

In general, we can say that interface is harmonious element which combines pedestrian, cycle routes, cars and cycle routes inside the building. These transportations network becomes a webwork inside the design.
