Registrations for the IBDC are only offered online. You can register as a user at the iF website and enter your product in the competition for the IBDC 2013.
When you are in the login area, and have registered an account, please fill in one registration form for each entry you want to submit. After you have submitted your online registration, we will immediately send you a confirmation email. This email will contain an entry identification code (xxx-xxxxxx) for each submitted entry. The entry ID helps us to clearly identify and assign each entry. Please make sure that the relevant entry ID is contained in all communications with us.
Additional information on how to complete the registration form
Please use the index tab address data of the registration form. Create a new address as university address under additional address to enter the full name and address of your current (or former) university.
If you have studied at more than one university, please enter the one where the project you submit has mainly been designed. Please also enter the full department name and the title.
Additional information for team projects
Teams with up to four members can submit one or more entries together. You can only create one user account for the whole team.
All team members, including the registering team member, have to be listed with their full names in the field “Responsible designers”. Unfortunately, it is not possible to register an additional team member at a later date. Should the field responsible designers not show under an already existing address, click “change” under the address and the field will show.
All correspondence will be sent to the team member who created and owns the user account for the team.
THE JURY
Judging session: Oct. 2012
An international expert jury will discuss and evaluate all submitted entries in a dedicated, critical and constructive way. Jurors will then select the 30 award winners from all submissions. The jury will also decide on the most outstanding entries, which will additionally receive prize money. The total prize money is NTD 500,000. The jury will decide on how much money goes to each entry. We will let you know about the jury decisions as soon as possible. The decision of the jury is legally binding and final.
WORKSHOP
Date of Workshop: Nov. 2012
10 winners of IBDC winners will be invited to attend a 3-days-workshop. During the workshop, the winners will visit the international bicycle manufacturers and design institutions. The organizer will also invite a panel of cycle experts, manufacturers or professors as instructors.to work with the winners and refine the concepts, especially in the practical aspects. The organizer will support the costs for model production.
The final results of the workshop will be presented in the TAIPEI CYCLE 2013.

Participation in the IBDC is free.
Professional designers and students of all design related courses and programs (for example, product, fashion and communication design, architecture, marketing and engineering) who are interested in design of bicycle and relevant service are welcome to register their entries for the IBDC. Participants should either register their entries as professionals or students . Projects should show their degree of innovation and design quality in a certain level. In addition to projects by individual designers, we also accept works by groups of designers with no more than 4 team members/team.

The projects submitted must not violate the patent and protective rights of other parties. The organizers assume no liability for such infringements.
Premise:All designs must be the entrants’ own original work;If legal protection for intellectual property rights has been applied for; the holder of the patent rights must be the entrant.
1. To protect the entrants’ intellectual property, the organizer encourages entrants to apply for legal protection for intellectual property rights before they submit their entries.
2. If the participants had applied for legal protection for intellectual property right and this had been approved before the competition (The entrants should pay the necessary expense themselves). The entrants should discuss with the organizer, and sign an agreement, allowing the organizer to commercialize or promote the product.
For any profit earned from intellectual property rights, the entrant will be entitled to 20% of the organizer’s net income from these rights.
3. The organizer has the priority to apply for legal protection for intellectual property rights for any entries that have not yet been applied for. If the entries are qualified to apply for legal protection for intellectual property rights directly without modification, the organizer will pay all the necessary expenses for legal protection and the entrants still will be the inventors and should help the organizer to provide necessary documentation during the procedure of applying for legal protection. For any profit earned from intellectual property rights, the inventor will be entitled to 15% of the organizer’s net income from these rights.
4. For entries that have not applied for any legal protection for intellectual property rights, if someone makes improvement to facilitate application for legal protection for intellectual property rights, both entrants and improvers could be the inventors of the design. The entrants should provide the necessary documentation to help the organizer apply for legal protection and the organizer will pay all the necessary expense. For any profit earned from intellectual property, the inventor is entitled to 10% of the organizer’s net income from these rights.
5. Based on the requirements of research and publicity, the entrants grant the organizer all rights to copy, photograph, video-record, publish, display in public or publicize the documents, pictures and files of entries. All entrants are obliged to provide relevant photographs and information regarding entries.
