TerraViva tarafından düzenlenen ve Fethiye Kayaköy'ü odağına alan "Living Ruins" yarışması için 22 Kasım 2024 tarihine kadar başvuru yapılabiliyor.
TerraViva launches Living Ruins, a new architecture competition focused on the design of an open-air museum and a visitor centre immersed in the suggestive Mediterranean landscape of the abandoned village of Kayaköy (Turkey).
Prizes up to 7.000 € will be awarded to the winners selected by an international jury panel composed, among others, by Kumru Arapgirlioglu (Bilkent University), Yujin Cao (Bruner/Cott Architects), Viviano Villarreal Buerón (Mass Operations) and Paraskevi Doumpa (Stipo).
The competition represents a new design challenge that, from its own title, attempts to counteract the current status of “Ghost Town” attributed to the abandoned village of Kayaköy (Turkey).
Through the design of a proper open-air museum, “Living Ruins” aims to collect projects capable of guaranteeing the conservation and revalorisation of such a mystical site. The transformation of this suggestive architectural complex into a thriving exhibition immersed in the Mediterranean landscape may open a new chapter for the future of the town.
1st Prize: 3.000€
2nd Prize: 1.000€
3rd Prize: 500€
10 Golden Mentions: 250€ each
10 Honorable Mentions: coupon for a free competition
30 Finalists: published on TerraViva channels
In a historic moment in which mass tourism is wreaking havoc on the most popular locations, this competi-tion can be seen as an opportunity not only to promote a more sustainable way of visiting a site, but also to offer an innovative and completely unique museum experience.
With this concept in mind, the competition encourages participants to imagine a new concept of open-air museum, where the protagonist is the path itself: the itinerary that connects each part of this wonderful architectural heritage.
The complex will include also the design of a new visitor centre, which will function as a reference point for tourists and a support space for cultural activities.
Two A1 panels (59,4 x 84,1 cm) landscape oriented + a brief text describing the proposal (250-500 words).
